Returning from Paradise

Hello New York! I could have gone a few more days without missing you too much :P

Andrew and I just came back today from our week long vacation (first real vacation alone!) from a trip around the Western Caribbean on the Allure of the Seas on Royal Caribbean cruise line. We visited Labadee, Haiti, Falmouth, Jamaica, and Cozumel, Mexico. It was so refreshing, relaxing, and fun - all key ingredients to a true and great vacation. I will post more on the vacation including itinerary and pictures!

On the plane ride back to NY today, I did decide to pick up where I last left off on a book I have been reading: The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. I will comment on what I got out of the book and possibly thinking about starting my own happiness project since her book is so inspiring and refreshing.

I just wanted to pop in and make a quick post after coming back from vacation and feeling completely refreshed. I also had a few thinking moments on the plane back and wanted to quickly jot down all the things I want to share on the blog in the next few weeks. Stay tuned!

Hello Blog World

I've been wanting to start a blog for myself after being obsessed with following a few favorites. Let's see how committed I can get with this...

Labor Day Weekend I had quite a nice and relaxing weekend this labor day. I had originally wanted to get out of NYC for the weekend, badly actually, but all the last minute planning just didn't work out given everyone's schedule and budgets (including my own). There was no reason to force it so I ended up staying local which ended up being pretty sweet.

Friday evening My parents and I stopped by Janice's house on Long Island to visit after her surgery. I didn't realize how long it has been since I've been over but it was nice to see that she is doing well. Our families are so close - it's really been a lifetime friendship we've had with their family. I've known Simon and Janice for as long as I can remember! We use to shower together as little kids. Oh how I miss being young.

Saturday Girls Day Out with Josie. Josie, Linda and I had tried so hard to plan a small getaway for the weekend but it just didn't work out. Josie and I ended up meeting to hit up the beach for the unofficial last weekend of summer at Coney Island. We found a spot that was more secluded (and a lot cleaner) than the rest of Coney Island. It was our version of the Hamptons lol. We tried to catch a quick tan but not sure either of us got that much darker. Went to grab dessert at this Chinese dessert spot on Bath Ave near my house. Josie ordered this Durian dessert soup thing and while it was funky, it was SO good. I've been thinking about it ever since; I think I'm hooked. We went to get manis and pedis on Ave U - really liked the spot where she usually gets her nails done. They did a really good job for the price tag of $13 (on weekends too! - $18 after tip). Definitely would come back! We had a nice low key Viet dinner after (probably one of our favorite cuisines) and watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes at the UA after. What an unexpected fun day hanging out in good old Brooklyn with Josie <3.

Sunday I went to get my first Brazilian Wax at GoGreen Organic Spa on Broome Street. I realized how much I missed Andrew's old apartment on Broome after I saw some people move in when I passed by it on my way to the spa :(. Anyway, the wax was...defeinitely painful. I was sweating profusely in pain but it feels good to bare down there ;) TMI. I'm ready for the cruise now! Spent some time shopping with my mom around SOHO and had dinner on 86th with mom and pops. Gotta love spending time with my parents.

Monday My parents and my aunt went to Woodbury. Holy cow, it almost reminded me of Black Friday. It's too hard to shop with large crowds so I only ended up with a belt from RL. Great quality and great price - at least I didn't come home completely empty handed.

Work Tues-Fri then off to FLL with baby for our Cruise. So excited. Please let this 4 day work week be a breeze.
